Football Trains to Gillette Stadium

The MBTA is pleased to once again offer Football Trains to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro for all New England Patriots home games. These special event trains will depart from South Station in Boston and from Providence Station in Providence, RI.

Patriots game schedules and corresponding train schedules are listed below.

Round trip tickets - $15.00

 Regular Commuter Rail tickets, Monthly Passes, Employee Passes or any other fare media are not valid on these trains.

Changes in operation for the “Football Trains” will be in effect for the 2011/2012 season as follows:

Boston Train:

  • Ticket Sales - Due to the continued popularity and increased ridership on the Boston to Foxboro train, the MBTA has increased the size of the train to provide maximum seating capacity.    This train will now be all “Reserved” seating ONLY. 
  • South StationBack Bay  - Tickets for the train will be available at South Station and Back Bay Station two weeks in advance of each game.  These tickets will be available until they are Sold Out or up to 15 minutes before the train′s scheduled departure from South Station and Back Bay .
  • North Station - Tickets will be available two weeks in advance of each game until the close of business on the day before the game.
  • Dedham Corp - Tickets to board the train at Dedham Corp may be purchased in advance at South Station, North Station and Back Bay.  Tickets will be available for purchase from the Ticket Van in the Dedham Corp parking lot on the day of a game. Ticket sales begin 1 hour prior to the scheduled departure time from Dedham Corp.
  • Capacity - For all Regular Season games there will be a capacity of 1,800 seats.
    • For Preseason games during the week the capacity will be 900 seats.
  • Norwood Central Trains WILL NOT STOP at Norwood Central.

** BOSTON TRAIN PASSENGERS MUST PRESENT THEIR ROUND TRIP TICKET PRIOR TO BOARDING THE TRAIN.

Providence Train:

  • Tickets will be available on board the train; we do however encourage advance purchase from the North, South and Back Bay Stations.
  • There will be no changes to the operation of this train.

NO Personal Items:

  • Fans are reminded that no personal items may be left on the train during the game.  Any personal items left unattended on the train will be collected and may be searched and discarded by the police.

Please note: Kickoff time for the Patriots′ playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, January 22nd at Gillette Stadium is scheduled for 3 PM. 


Commuter Rail will provide service from Boston and Providence to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. If any of the Patriots games are rescheduled, the train schedules displayed below will be appropriately adjusted. Please click here for details.

Prohibited Items List 

To ensure that all fans have a safe and enjoyable visit to Gillette Stadium, the following items may not be carried into Gillette Stadium:

Alcoholic Beverages; Illegal Drugs; Weapons of Any Kind; Food or Beverages; Coolers or Containers-including cans and bottles; Umbrellas; Fireworks; Cameras, Video Equipment and Audio Recorders; Pets-except service animals assisting those with disabilities; Strollers or Baby Seats; Folding Chairs; Noise Makers, Bullhorns, Air Horns: Helium Balloons, Beach Balls; and other items that in the judgment of stadium management pose a safety hazard or diminish the enjoyment of the game by other patrons. Prohibited items that are discovered will be confiscated. Individuals in possession of a prohibited item(s) may be denied admission to the stadium, ejected, arrested, prosecuted, and may forfeit the privileges of the season ticket holder of record.

Fans are reminded NO personal items may be left on the train during the game. As a security precaution, all trains will be subject to a search after arrival at Gillette Stadium. All personal items left on the train will be collected and disposed of.

~ NFL Flexible Scheduling ~

Please Note: The NFL will utilize flexible scheduling in weeks 11 through 17. Flexible scheduling will ensure quality match ups in all NFL Sunday time slots in those weeks and give teams a chance to play their way onto primetime and into the late afternoon 4:15 PM ET time slot on CBS and FOX.

For each of the flexible scheduling weeks with the exception of Week 17, the NFL will announce start times of games no later that 12 days prior to that weekend. To ensure a Sunday night game and doubleheader games with playoff implications in Week 17, the flexible scheduling decision for that Sunday will be made on six days notice.
